Michael Chekhov Theatre Festival

About Us

The Chekhov International Theatre Festival is a weekend event held annually in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The festival pulls from regional, national and international theatre companies, which practice Chekhov and other complimentary acting techniques.

The Chekhov International Theatre Festival is a non-profit organization under the auspices of the Town of Ridgefield. The festival was established in 2009 by a group of local historians and performing artists to maintain a living historical presence of Michael Chekhov in the town and to advance his theatrical principles and humanitarian ideals. It is the hope that performers and audiences will leave the festival inspired by the legacy of Michael Chekhov and his methodology of acting. In the future the committee and town hope to preserve the sites of his former school in Ridgefield.
