Festival 5K/10K

The Heart of Virginia Festival 5K/10K is back

Join us on September 14 on the High Bridge Trail. The Heart of Virginia Festival 5K/10K will kick off on the Saturday morning of the festival starting at 8:30am at the High Bridge Trail

Race Descriptions

10K Race (RUN ONLY):

The 10K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail (311 Main Street) in Farmville, Virginia. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine, crushed, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. Categories for men and women include: 18 & under, 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

5K Run/Walk (RUN & WALK):

The 5K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville, Virginia. Runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K and will be ranked together. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine, crushed, gravel. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category.  Categories for men and women include: 18 & under, 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

10K Overall Top 3 M/F, 10K Age Groups Top 3 M/F 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

5K Overall Top 3 M/F, 5K Age Groups Top 3 M/F 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

Participants will have the ability to report their result, for their event, directly to our RunSignUp Results page or by text message.

Instructions will emailed to participants the week before the event and will also be found on our registration page.

Fees

There is a $2.45 SignUp fee applied to all registrations.

5K / 10K  Registration

$25 Individual Registration opening 8/31

$30 Individual 9/1-9/12

$35 Individual 9/13 -9/14

Marketplace (Handicrafts)

Crafters are invited to sell their work on September 14th. Please click the link below to register.

The crafters are an integral part of the festival. The Marketplace features a wide variety of crafters with quality items from home décor, family fashion, garden accents, candles, jewelry, homemade soaps and perfumes, knitted and crocheted items and more. All crafts are handmade and original ideas of the crafter themselves.

Marketplace (Fine Arts)

The Heart of Virginia Festival began in 1978 with the Art Show.  The Fine Arts Show is on High Street, and the cost is $125 to participate in the Fine Arts Show.

Categories include; watercolor, oil/acrylic painting, drawing/pastels, photography, fiber and textiles (weaving), jewelry (silversmithing & goldsmithing, beaded jewelry should apply to the 

Community Organizations

The Heart of Virginia Festival is a festival by the community for the community. In addition to the arts, food, and crafts, we open the festival to non profit 501 C3 community organizations, such as civic, educational, faith based, that benefit the community they love. At these exhibits you can learn more about what they do in the community.

If you are a business in the community and are not classified as a 501 C3 please consider being a sponsor.

Festival Foods

The Festival provides a wide variety of food options including kettle corn, pizza, international food, BBQ, seafood, desserts, and much, much more. Please see the guidelines for cost and booth size.

Children’s Area

One of the festival’s most popular attractions is the Children’s Area. This area features child-friendly entertainment, face painting, hands-on arts and crafts activities, and much more, most of which are free.

Music and Culture

The festival features live music and other entertainment including a variety of musical genres from local and regional artists.
